Lately I have been entertaining the idea of shipping myself to Europe and taking up with a band of gypsies, playing guitar and violin with those folks across France and Belgium. Of course everything would be beautiful and slightly flawed in execution at every stop. Our caravan would be a ragged affair and may shatter along a sloppy-banked river forcing us to build makeshift boats in an attempt to move on to the next village. There would be no hurry though, there would never be any rush with us. The leisure and slow freedom is the entire purpose in doing such a thing. I would wish to be like Django in my playing ,but as with everything else, the pressure to do so would not exist. Instead I would embrace having the base inspiration of Nuages and Minor Swing, using that as a foundation to pour out my own dances and ideas.

Now then, who else would love to embrace a wanderlust and travel anywhere that feels right at the moment? Maybe not with gyspsies, but I'm sure everyone has dreams or something similar, let's hear all about them.

i have a dream of starting a musical group that included classical guitar, upright bass, sitar, didgeridoo, bagpipe and rock organ. but i do have a want to live in a european country, preferably London, England. i love the weather there and just the way the city is built and organized, nothing like LA. you live in Michigan right? i am familiar with some of Django's peices, unfortunately i don't always feel like listening to him because his bluesy tunes fit very eclectically with everything else i listen to.

This sounds like it holds potential to be a marvelous band, everything would come together in a way nobody could ever imagine without first experiencing.

Yup, Michigan. Sadly I've never had the chance to ship myself off to London, but it does some absolutely wonderful.

Fitting in an eclectic manner seems like all the more reason to get him in there. It certainly does take a specific mood for mr. reinhardt though.

Are romanies allowed to wear deodorant?

If you wanna be Django...

...I'll be yer Nin-Nin.

Wanderlust for me is secondary to making music. Of course, I'll go where the music goes as well...

Great idea! === you should do it, at least for awhile. Before you know it you'll have too many 'responsibilities' to just drop everything and go across Europe.

I had a dream of backpacking across Europe when I was younger (not that I'm OLD now... only 35!) ... and I think I might still do it someday.

I also had the dream of living in England or Europe. I visited Paris last year for work and Sweden and London this year for work. I'm hoping my work takes me traveling more, because I have that wanderlust, too. :-)
